Portland Blues & Jazz Dance Society Hosts Three-Day Rose City Blues Event Nov 11

The Portland Blues & Jazz Dance Society would like to have you join them for a special three-day event they will be hosting called Rose City Blues, featuring live music and dancing! All night dances will be held at the Bossanova Ballroom on Veteran’s Day weekend, Friday, November 8th through Sunday, November 11th. New to blues dancing? There are also workshops all day featuring instructors from all over the country. And if dancing is not for you, there is plenty of room at the Bossanova to enjoy the music.

The all night dances held at the Bossanova will have live music starting at 10:30 pm each night. DJ’ed music will start at 9:00 pm with the music and dancing going on until 5:00 am.

Performances by three of Portland’s top blues acts will headline the event. On Friday night, Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame band Kevin Selfe & The Tornadoes will be featured. On Saturday, the Blues Music Award winner for BB King Entertainer of the Year Curtis Salgado will command the stage, with a special solo performance by Kevin Selfe, too. Then on Sunday night, the Rainy Day Blues Society’s 2014 entry for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, the Rae Gordon Band will headline the evening.

There will be various dance competitions with prizes amounting to over $2000.00 in cash, plus passes to events like bluesSHOUT, Austin Blues Party, Portland Blues Experience and many more!

And not everything takes place just during the night at the Bossanova. There will be classes during the day held at Paradise Dance Studio and Lenora’s Room at Uptown Ballroom.

Full weekend and individual night passes are still on sale. Individual nights start at $30.00 and full weekend dance passes which cover all performances are just $75.00.
