Trombone Shorty & JJ Grey in Spectacular Double Bill at Oregon Zoo

tromboneshorty        The Oregon Zoo’s Summer Concert series always brings in some of the most popular talent every year, but with this show they have really outdone themselves. One of New Orleans’ most highly acclaimed musicians, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, along with the premier roots-rock of JJ Grey & Mofro is a night that’ll be pure magic and entertainment.

Since the release of their Grammy-nominated 2010 debut album, Backatown, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have grown creatively while winning hordes of new fans performing nonstop on five continents. Their latest album, For True, offers substantive proof of their explosive growth, further refining the signature sound Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews has dubbed “Supafunkrock.”

Over the course of six albums and a decade of touring, Florida’s JJ Grey’s grimy blend of front porch soul and down-home storytelling has taken him around the world and back again. Beating the streets on nearly every continent, he and his band Mofro have sewn a continuous thread of laying-it-on-the-line shows that move folks to dance and at times to tears.

This exciting night of world-class music happens on Sunday, August 4th at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 5:00, which is also valid for zoo admission for the day. The Oregon Zoo is located at 4001 SW Canyon Road (just take the zoo exits off Hwy 26). Tickets are $26.00 – $46.00 and are available through www.ticketfly.com. This is an all ages event.
