Hillstomp At Mississippi Studios – March 17th

Hillstomp - press photoAfter first forming nearly fifteen years ago, the Portland-based junkbox blues band Hillstomp has released a trio of acclaimed recordings and has toured around the country and to Europe. Infamous for digging through the dumps and forgotten backwoods of American music and recycling traditional elements into a refreshing and distinctive brand of do-it-yourself hill country blues stomp. Take North Mississippi trance blues, add a bit of Appalachia, a dash of punkabilly, a spoonful of clanging and tumbling from assorted buckets, cans, and BBQ lids, drench the whole thing with rambunctious slide guitar, and you have the recipe for unique, home-grown Americana music.

Henry Christian and John Johnson do not play too often in their hometown, so when they do it is worth noting. Hillstomp will be appearing on Thursday, March 17 at Mississippi Studios, 3939 N Mississippi Avenue, at 9:00 pm. Tickets for this 21 & over event can be found at TicketFly.com for $10.00, or at the door for $12.00 day of show. Portland’s Americana band Kory Quinn & The Comrades will share the bill.
